Here's the hole in the front trunk with the welds ground down and the AllMetal putty finished. |
This is the trunk floor after a coat of etch primer and regular primer. |
This shows the back wall where I removed the glue and paint. |

Here's the shot after the etch primer and regular primer. |
This is the before shot showing the etch primer and the plugs installed. I added seam sealer to these plugs underneath the car. |
Here's the after shot. |

This is the before shot of the inner fender well. I decided not to remove the front sway bar. |
Here's the after shot. |
This is the before shot of the area underneath the fuel tank. I decided not to remove the fresh air fan and ducts. The covered bar is the front sway bar. |

Here's the after shot. |
This the before shot of the headlight area. I decided not to remove the headlights. The gray patches are the A/C holes welded shut. This is the reason it has taken me several weekends to prep the front trunk for painting. |
Here's the after shot. |
|
This is the before shot underneath the car where the steering attaches to the body. |
Here's the after shot. |
This shows the masking done on the car. I covered both front fenders, doors and where the front bumper attaches. |
|
I used the car cover to help protect the outside body from getting too much paint. I used clothes pins to hold the cover above the rocker panels. |
This set of photos show the red paint applied to the primered areas. This shows the area under the fender well. You'll notice that the front sway bar arm is covered with aluminum foil. After the primer was applied, all of the newspaper areas were replaced with aluminium. This minimized any fibers that could contaminate the final color. |
This is the area where the fresh vent and motor is, also the area underneath the fuel tank. |
|
This shows the front trunk. If you'll remember, this is where the original A/C condensor was located. |
This is another shot of the area underneath the fuel tank. The original wiring harness was left in tack, but was covered with a wiring loom. |
This shows the outside panels that were covered with masking paper, again, to minimize the contamination of the color paint by the newspaper fibers. |
