Finished stripping the paint from the driver's side of the engine compartment. |
Also removed the paint from the underside of the targa. Here's the driver's side. |
Here's the passenger's side. |

This is the center section, looking up from the floor. |

I removed all of the chrome edges, then the targa vinyl. Here's the passenger's side, after removal of the glue that held the vinyl. This is the original paint. |
This is the driver's side, before glue removal. I also removed the vinyl from the center section, on top. I'm planning to keep the vinyl off and fill in the holes that held the lower chrome strip. |
Well, this is the day I've been waiting for for over 6 months, put paint back on the car. I put plastic sheeting on the exposed walls of the carport and taped up the car. |
|
I covered all of the outside panels, except the front trunk and front fenders. |
Here's the rear trunk and engine compartment before painting. |
Here's the passenger compartment. I bought some wiring looms to wrap around the wires to keep them from being painted and to help hold them out of the way. |
|
Here's a shot after the etch primer, then the next 2 coats of primer had been applied. |
Here's a shot of the passenger compartment. |
Here's the 'money' shot, we have RED paint. I applied 2 coats of color paint. |

This is a photo diary of the before and after shots of the various areas that have recently been painted. The panels on the left are obviously the before any clean up. The right is the final painted area. This is the firewall in the engine compartment. This photo was originally taken on June 13, 2004. |

Today I disassembled and cleaned the engine fan shroud. This is the front shot. |
This is a close up of the wiring and the generator. |
|
Here's the rear shot of the shroud. |
Here's a close up of the back side of the generator and the hinge bracket. |
It was fairly straight forward disassembling the shroud. I removed the generator, then unbolted the various bolts that hold the 2 pieces together. I then wire-brushed the inside and finally degreased both inside and outside of each half. I'll replace the slotted bolts with allen-head bolts before final assembly. |
|
Here's a shot of the back side after cleaning. I'll attach the generator when I take this to Joe's to put back on the engine. Next weekend I'm driving to Joe's to pick up the engine. |
Well, the day has finally arrived for me to pick up the motor that Joe Ricard rebuilt for me. Robin and I rented a van and drove from Florida to Mississippi. Here's a shot of the motor in the van. I want to thank Joe for a wonderful job well done. |
After getting home, we placed the motor on a wooden engine stand. Here's the wiring for the coil. |
|
Here's the wiring for the remote switch and the fuel pump/filter. |
Here's the wiring for the starter. |
Here's a wide angle shot of the wooden motor stand. |
