I installed the engine and tranny today. They were placed on a dolly with 2 fixed wheels and a 3 center-pivot wheel. This shows the engine/tranny ready to be moved underneath the car.

Here's another view. The right air cleaner bolt wouldn't completely clear, so I carefully lifted the right side and tapped the dolly with my foot. It's tough when you work alone. Once the engine cleared the rear section, I removed the left side air cleaner also.

Before I got the engine in place, I put a long threaded bolt into the forward engine mount. Then move the engine bar so that the bottom of the bolt passed through the mount. Because the dolly was too low for my jacks, I used this threaded bolt to pull the engine bar high enough for the bottle jacks to be placed underneath.

At the tranny, I placed a small floor jack.

Using the bottle jacks, underneath the motor mount, and the tranny floor jack, I began carefully lifting the engine/tranny into place.

Here's the tranny floor jack. Becareful not to place the wood/jack underneath the speedo/tranny part.

Here's a shot of the engine moving into position. Take careful notice of the spark plug wires, other various wires and the fuel lines. Also, be wary of the rubber seals around the engine tin.

Once I got the engine high enough, I removed the threaded bolt. You'll notice the front engine bar bolt in place.

This is underneath the engine showing the correct position of the engine tin rubber. After the engine is in place, the rubber needs to be pulled down and 'hooked' to the engine tin lip, all the way around the front and 2 sides.

This shows the rear rubber seal. This is an original seal, which I understand is no longer available. This piece has 2 long 'flaps', one going on the inside and the other on the outside of the engine tin. You'll also noticed the CV/axles have been installed. Don't forget new CV bolts, washers and gaskets.

Finally, this is a reference shot showing the tranny and associated mounting bolts.
