These are the before and after pictures of the cleaning of the engine compartment and the rear inner fenders. This is the center of the firewall, in the engine compartment. Before cleaning. |
After cleaning. I used an engine degreaser and a pressure washer. The weather was 90+ degrees, with 90% humidity, in Florida. Fortunately, I was able to do the cleaning under a covered carport. |

Driver side showing the 'brain box'. You'll notice that I plugged all of the holes with either a screw, bolt, tape or a plastic cup. This minimized the water getting inside any of the support channels. |

Lower center firewall. This is where all of the wires and cables come through the firewall. |

Lower passenger side suspension mounting area. The white circle is a plastic cup I used to plug the heater elbow that goes into the driving compartment. |

Driver side inner fender. I was able to get the majority of the dirt and grease out of these areas, but as I reinstall all of the suspension parts and reinstall the engine and transmission, I'll clean any missed areas by hand. |
This is my impromptu engine stand. I'm using a floor jack, underneath the engine, and a couple of jack stands supporting the exhaust. I'm removing the exhaust and trans from the engine to make it more easy for me to store it in my PT Cruiser and transport it to Mississippi. I've contacted Joe Ricard to check out the engine and rebuild it for me. |
Here's another view. |
|
I removed the four nuts and washters from the exhaust, on each side. There was two studs that came out with the nuts. Here's the exhaust, muffler and heat exchanges removed. |
Shot of the trans removed. |
Since I'm using my personal car, I've cleaned up the trans. Boy, do these things clean up well. |
