Well, it's been a year since I've purchased this car and I'm wrapping up on another project car, so I decided it was time to start looking at this car. I've been using it as storage for all of the parts that came with this car. So here's some shots before I emptied everything. Driver's side. |
Front trunk. |
Passenger's side. |
|
Rear trunk. As you can tell, I just walked around the car with the camera. |
Well, I've removed all of the parts, so here's the starting shot of the driver's side. |
Here's a shot of the passenger floor from the driver's side. |

Here's where I started removing the sound-proofing on the driver's side. |
Front section on the driver's side with the sound-proofing removed. |
|
Close up of the engine lid release cable at the firewall, no metal left. |
This shows the lower firewall, behind the driver's seat. The lower 2" for the firewall is rusted off and the last 1" of floor is missing. This is near the parking brake cables. |
More of the same, except at the center tunnel. |
|
A small hole underneath the driver's seat adjustment bracket. |
This shows the same rust on the passenger side near the center tunnel. |
More rust at the firewall, on the passenger side, next to the long. |
|
Front section on the passenger side. |
This shows the rust underneath the mounting bracket for the electrical connections on the passenger side. |
After removing the sound-proofing and finding all of the rust at the firewall, I decided to check the firewall in the engine compartment. Here's a shot before I removed the fan. |
|
Here's the driver's hell hole. Notice the rust in the firewall, there's also rust into the long. |
Here's a shot of the passenger hell hole, after I removed the rusted battery tray. |
Another shot for the passenger hell hole. Again, you'll notice the rust in the firewall and also in the long. |
|
Here's a shot of the inner fender well in the passenger side, where the battery use to be attached. |
Here's an exterior shot of the passenger's side long. This has been rusted through. |
Here's an exterior shot of the driver's side long, again, it has been rusted through. |
|
Rust near the windshield on the passenger's side. |
More rust near the windshield on the driver's side. |
Rust in the targa panel on the driver's side. |
|
More rust in the targa panel on the passenger's side. |
Underneath the driver's threshhold I found evidence of a fiber glass repair, so no telling what that's hiding. |
More rust found in the front section of the driver's long. After this extensive review, I've decided that I'm not going to try to restore this car. Instead, I'll use it as a donor car for any of my other projects. |
